140 Berlin School Students Discover Azerbaijani Culture
As part of the 36th Berlin Fairy Tale Days, a cultural event organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Germany was held at the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Berlin. This globally renowned festival—considered the largest fairy tale festival in the world—has now included Azerbaijan for the third time. Over the past years, more than 360 participants have gained insights into the country’s history, culture, and folklore and have become acquainted with Azerbaijani fairy tales.
This year, around 140 students from various Berlin schools, along with their teachers, took part in the event.
The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Germany, Nasimi Aghayev, opened the event, welcomed the guests, and emphasized the importance of cultural exchange. A short video presentation about Azerbaijan followed.
A special highlight of the program was the performance by Narmin Najafli, an Azerbaijani pianist based in Berlin, who presented the Azerbaijani fairy tale “Nar qızı” (“The Pomegranate Girl”) and conducted a music quiz for the children. In addition, dancers Said and Aziza Ibrahimli performed traditional Azerbaijani dances. The event continued with the school students and teachers joining in the well-known folk dance Yallı.
At the end of the event, the young guests were treated to Azerbaijani sweets and various souvenirs.
Anna Povedic, project manager of the organizing institution Märchenland, highlighted the significance of the Berlin Fairy Tale Days and expressed her appreciation for the excellent organization of the event.
