Fallen heroes honoured in Berlin
On 27 September - to mark Remembrance Day - the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Germany hosted an event at the historic Shehitlik Mosque in Berlin, founded in 1866. Prayers for the souls of the fallen heroes were read and a blessing was given. A commemorative placard was displayed at the event to mark the memory of the Fallen Heroes who gave their lives for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
A minute's silence was observed during the event. Videos were then shown in honour of the fallen heroes. Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Germany Nasimi Aghayev spoke about the selfless struggle of the Azerbaijani army for the restoration of the country's territorial integrity during the 44-day war and the heroism of the soldiers and officers. The diplomat noted that thanks to the determination and wise leadership of Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan were able to liberate, within a short period of time, territories that had been under Armenia's illegal occupation for almost 30 years. Aghayev noted that the fallen heroes will always be remembered with great gratitude and their memory will always be cherished.
Afterwards, the Minister-Counselor of the Turkish Embassy in Germany, Umut Topçuoğlu, delivered a speech. In his speech, he stressed that Türkiye always stood by Azerbaijan's side both during and after the Patriotic War, and prayed for the souls of the fallen heroes.
Ayfer Fulya Yücekök, Counselor of the Turkish Embassy to Germany, and Rıfkı Olgun Yücekök, Consul General of Türkiye in Berlin, as well as the staff of the Azerbaijani Embassy to Germany and representatives of the Azerbaijani and Turkish diasporas in Germany attended the commemoration.
