An event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Diplomatic Service of Azerbaijan was held at the Berlin Humboldt University
An event commemorating the 100th anniversary of Diplomatic Service of Azerbaijan was held at Humboldt University.
H.E. Mr. Ramin Hasanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Federal Republic of Germany, Mrs. Monika Leonhardt, deputy head of the South Caucasus and Central Asia Department of German Federal Foreign Office, as well as Prof. Dr. Eva-Maria Auch, Head of the Azerbaijan History Department at Humboldt University and other persons participated at the event.
Monika Leonhardt delivered a speech and informed the guests about history and current level of relations between Azerbaijan and Germany.
Prof. Dr. Eva-Maria Auch spoke about the history of Azerbaijan diplomacy and described the participation of an Azerbaijan delegation at the Versailles Peace Conference.
The event was followed by panel discussion, moderated by Birgit Wetzel. Participants exchanged views on foreign policy of Azerbaijan and relations between Azerbaijan and Germany.
H.E. Mr. Ramin Hasanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Federal Republic of Germany made a statement on 100th anniversary of establishment of the Diplomatic Service of Azerbaijan. He informed the guests about the history of Azerbaijan’s diplomacy and emphasized that this history backs to Middle Ages. He stressed that figures like Sara Khatun, Uzun Hasan and Shah Ismail Khatai had a special role and place in the Diplomacy history of Azerbaijan.
Ambassador stressed that one of the most important orders of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was on establishment of the Secretariat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dated July 9, 1919. He noted that this date is celebrated in Azerbaijan as establishment day of the Diplomatic Service of Azerbaijan.
At the end of his speech, Ambassador spoke about the history of relations between Azerbaijan and Germany, stressed that Germany is one of most important partners of Azerbaijan in Europe.
Prof. Dr. Eva-Maria Auch made a statement at the event as well. She informed the guests in detail about the history of Diplomatic Service of Azerbaijan and participation of an Azerbaijan delegation at the Versailles Peace Conference of 1919.
An exchange of views on foreign policy of Azerbaijan and relations between Azerbaijan and Germany took place as well.
