Berlin commemorates the 31st anniversary of the Khojaly genocide
As part of its cooperation with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Germany organised an event to mark the 31st anniversary of the Khojaly Genocide at the Azerbaijan Cultural Centre in Berlin on 24 February 2023.
An exhibition on the Khojaly Genocide was presented at the event.
At the beginning of the event, a minute of silence was held in memory of those killed in the Khojaly genocide. Afterwards, a short film about the Khojaly genocide, prepared by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Germany, was shown.
The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Germany, Nasimi Aghayev, and the head of the working group for Azerbaijani-German interparliamentary relations of the Milli Majlis, Nurlan Hasanov, gave a speech at the event and spoke about the deep impression the Khojaly genocide has left on Azerbaijanis.
The speeches were followed by a commemorative concert. Azerbaijani and foreign musicians from Europe and Germany - Anar Ibrahimov (Bramo) on violin, Abuzar Manafzade on piano, Olga Zernayeva on flute, singers Orkhan Jalilov and Gunel Shirinova - participated in the concert, as well as members of the Caspian Chamber Philharmonic quintet,, which played works by Azerbaijani composers Gara Garayev, Fikrat Amirov, Sevil Aliyeva, Arif Malikov, Asaf Zeynalli, Farhad Badalbayli and foreign composers.
