Turkic States Showcase Cultural Heritage in Berlin
A festive event marking the Nowruz holiday was held on March 30, 2026, at the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Berlin, jointly organized with the embassies of the Turkic states.
The program opened with an exhibition highlighting the shared cultural heritage of the Turkic states, featuring historical artifacts, traditional handicrafts, and publications from the participating countries.
Türkiye’s Ambassador to Germany, Gökhan Turan, described the Organization of Turkic States as a strategic platform that extends beyond political cooperation, reinforcing common historical and cultural bonds. He noted that Nowruz symbolizes renewal, reconciliation, and solidarity, and carries particular significance as a message of dialogue and peace in times of global tension.
Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Germany, Nasimi Aghayev, underscored the cultural and societal importance of the celebration. “Nowruz is far more than a spring festival. It is an ancient symbol of renewal, hope, and the enduring power of life,” he said, adding that the holiday is deeply rooted in Azerbaijan’s cultural identity and embodies reconciliation and inner peace.
He further emphasized the unifying nature of Nowruz: “Yet Nowruz is not only a reflection of our traditions—it is also a call: a call for unity, solidarity, and shared responsibility.” The Organization of Turkic States, he added, is “far more than a political framework; it is an expression of our shared will to shape our future together.”
Highlighting the broader significance of cooperation, Aghayev stated: “With a population of over 179 million and an economic output exceeding 2.1 trillion US dollars, the Turkic world holds immense potential. However, our greatest strength lies in our shared cultural and historical foundation.” This foundation, he noted, also underpins efforts to promote peace, stability, and security at both regional and global levels.
The event continued with a vibrant cultural program, including film screenings as well as striking and captivating music and dance performances from the participating countries. The performances were met with sustained applause and enthusiastic response from the audience.
The evening concluded with a reception featuring specialties from the national cuisines of the Turkic states.
