Exhibition Marking the 75th Anniversary of People’s Artist Ashraf Heybatov Opens in Berlin
Berlin – On the occasion of the 75th birthday of Azerbaijani People’s Artist Ashraf Heybatov, the exhibition “The Colors of My Homeland” was opened at the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Berlin. The event was organized jointly by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Germany and the Azerbaijani Cultural Center.
At the beginning of the event, a film about the life and work of the artist was shown. In his speech, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Germany, Nasimi Aghayev, praised Heybatov’s artistic lifetime achievements as well as his role as a cultural bridge between Azerbaijan and Europe.
“It is a great pleasure and honor for us to celebrate today the 75th birthday of an extraordinary artist — Ashraf Heybatov,” Aghayev said. He emphasized that Heybatov has lived in Germany since the mid-1990s and from here has made an important contribution to cultural dialogue. “His works are far more than paintings — they are visual narratives about memory, origin, and identity,” the ambassador noted.
The artist’s works have already been presented at internationally renowned venues, including the Palais des Nations of the United Nations in Geneva, NATO Headquarters in Brussels, the Vatican, the Royal Palace of Jordan, and the Presidential Palace in Romania. For his contributions to art, Heybatov was awarded the honorary titles “Honored Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan” and later “People’s Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan” by the President of Azerbaijan.
During the event, Ambassador Aghayev also presented the artist with a congratulatory plaque from the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora on the occasion of his 75th anniversary. A special publication prepared by the embassy for this occasion was also introduced.
In his words of thanks, Ashraf Heybatov expressed his deep appreciation for the attention shown to him and emphasized that his love for his homeland has always been a central inspiration for his artistic work.
The exhibition presents around 40 works by the artist, reflecting a variety of themes and the diversity of his work. Motifs such as nature, traditions, and the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan occupy a special place and attracted great interest among visitors.
