A concert dedicated to the 650th anniversary of Imadaddin Nasimi and the 25th anniversary of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO was held in Berlin

On September 23, 2019, a concert devoted to the 650th anniversary of Imaddin Nasimi and the 25th anniversary of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO was held in Berlin.

H.E. Mr. Ramin Hasanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Federal Republic of Germany delivered an opening speech. He provided information on life and works of great poet and philosopher Imadaddin Nasimi. Ambassador Hasanov said that works of Nasimi are constant research topics of Azerbaijan literature. Remembering the decrees of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, he stressed that 2019 was declared the "Year of Nasimi" in our country.

Ambassador also told that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO. He stressed that the National Commission has done so far in promoting the national heritage of Azerbaijan in the world, as well as providing special services for inclusion of important cultural and literary heritage to the UNESCO Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The Ambassador also briefed the audience on the Azerbaijani mugham art and the Karabakh Mugham Group, noting that Mugham plays an important role in music culture of Azerbaijan. He told that Nagorno-Karabakh region and surrounding areas, name of which bears the Group, have been occupied by Armenia and that Azerbaijani territories are still under occupation. He highlighted the outstanding contributions of Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO, in promoting culture and music of Azerbaijan in the world.

"Karabakh Mugham Group” under the leadership of Mansum Ibrahimov performed the gazals and poems of Nasimi at the concert. Singers Mansum Ibrahimov and Sadaf Budagova were accompanied by Elchin Hashimov (Tar), Elnur Ahmadov (Kamancha) and Kamran Karimov (Naghara).

The event was attended by representatives of the social, political, scientific and cultural circles of Germany, the diplomatic corps and the Azerbaijani diaspora.

During the concert, relevant materials about culture and art of Azerbaijan were demonstrated and distributed among participants.
